Coop Bank - WTH?

It's 05:30 in the morning and Iv'e just choked on my coffee!

Seeing as I'm recently BR, I'm keeping a beady eye on every single penny.

I was up early today and thought I would just run through my Coop account on-line. The first thing I noticed is that a standing order to my wife on the 1st of each month has disappeared:mad: Why? Why would that even happen?

Secondly, even though I stopped the direct debit over a month ago, and included all Ebay & Paypal selling fees into my BR, Paypal have taken out £95! How can this happen. I'm really getting pi**ed of with this BR busines at the moment - it seems you take a giant positive step forward and then some %£"$%* knocks you back 10 steps.

Had enough already.

Take a deep breath and count to ten. Then get on the phone to the Co-op. Lots of times things can slip through, you should be able to clear things up. When I've called them about transfer problems they've always been helpful. Good luck.

Why did paypal take the money? they don't usually take anything unless you bought something or owe some e-bay fees. Do you have a bank card listed with them? if so just canceling the DD wont stop them taking money they will just switch payment method to the next registered card or bank.

It was Ebay selling fees from assets sold to raise money for my BR & rent.
Thanks to Paypal, I'm now £95 short for my rent which is due tomorrow and have no way of obtaining the shortfall until my sick pay goes in on Friday - great!!

I only have my Co-op card listed with Paypal, so the option to take payment from any other source isn't possible. I cancelled the direct debit on the 2nd or 3rd of this month. I had an email yesterday saying thank you for the payment - this payment came out of my Co-op account yesterday.

Am I missing something here or just being extremely thick - because I just can't see how it's possible with no Paypal or eBay direct debit for them to do this!

I suspect I'm being thick. I await some expert advise, and that awful feeling when the penny drops;).

If they have the debit card listed then they can use that to take the money from your account. As you state the debt has gone into your BR so you need to let Co-op know and see if they can reverse the action. Also let your OR know as they have taken money they are not entitled too.

Thanks TF. Ok, I still had my debit card listed. But, Paypal wouldn't let me remove that card because when I tried to remove the debit card using their facility to do so on their site, it said I can't do this whilst a balance is outstanding or due - or words to that effect.

I will email the OR in a mo and also ring Co op customer services in a minute.

I'm still spitting feathers over this - even after 3 hours. What the hell am I going to do about the rent.
