Hair Care for thin fine hair

Hi, I know this will have been covered before but I just don't know what to do. I have very fine thin hair, the only thing that makes it looks smooth and sleek are GHDs used with hair serum but I keep getting told heat is very bad for your hair, even though my hairdresser uses GHDs on me and says its OK as long as I use protection.
Now I am wary of using them so am letting my hair air dry when I can, I have bought a Tangle Teezer brush, just brush it with that and leave it be but it still doesn't look as good as when I use the GHDs.
How can I baby my hair but still get it to look good. It is in a chin length bob at the moment and I am trying to grow it so can certainly do without any damage.

Unfortunately, hair was never meant to be ironed, dyed, scrunched, blow dryed or have serum on it.
I would suggest giving it a couple of weeks of natural as possible or at the very least turn your hair straighteners down to their lowest setting.0 -
You could try using a TINY drop of sweet almond oil instead of serum. I have the same hair type as you and use oil as it's better for your hair, but as I said, just a tiny drop or it'll weigh your hair down, and don't use it anywhere near the roots if you are prone to oiliness! As for straightening, I would just use the lowest setting you can.0

The coconut virgin oil may help0

Hiya
I also have fine thin hair. I've found if I use my straighteners on the lowest setting possible, this seems to help a bit. And I've found using dry shampoo a couple of days instead of constantly washing it all the time helps, also the dry shampoo seems to give a little bit of much needed volume.
Another thing I've done is gone all natural with my shampoo and conditioner and this seems to have helped a lot.
Just a few ideas that I hope will help you. hope you dont mind me commenting as I'm new.0 -
Course I don't mind you commenting, thanks all for your replies. I realise I need to use some heat on my hair or it looks as if its in no style at all but I'll just try to go easy on it.0

To improve the appearance and feel of fine thin hair with your best shampoo and conditioner to add body to dry and thin fine hair. There are many things that can cause your hair to become dry and damage. Try to increases flexibility to decrease damage during styling.0

I agree with Juicyl about using oil. I too have fine hair and always used serum and GHDs but it never really looked any better. I've recently started using the so called Extraordinary Hair oil and my good old hotbrush instead of my GHDs and my hair is so much better. It does seem to make sense to use oil as that's what hair lacks as it grows.
Might try Juicyl's suggestion of almond oil as the manufactured stuff is so expensive.0 -
I have fine hair, and some GHD's, but I found that they were too hot for my hair. I can't lower the heat setting on them, so I have gone back to the old straighteners I had before which have an adjustable heat setting, and straighten my hair a few times a week, using a heat defense spray. My hair has now recovered, but it's a shame, there's nothing like GHD's for straightening hair!0
