Remortgage Question - Old Default

We had problems in 2010 getting a mortage due to my husbands ex wife and her bankruptcy & defaults. My husband has one default with Barclays for an old overdraft £452 (with a linked address) which will be 6 years on 27th February 2013.

We want to remortgage and do home improvements are we best to wait until 27/02/13 or do you think this old default won't really have an impact now. Our credit records are great in every other respect.

Thanks

Wait until it has dropped off.

Was he linked financially to the -ex? If so, he may have to wait until her adverse drops off after six years.

Get all three credit files and take them along to a good independent or whole market broker for help.

  • The only link financially now was this old overdraft, we filled in all paperwork and was told account was closed only to find out in 2010 it wasn't! Her bankruptcy was with her new partner ?

Hopefully her bankruptcy won't affect us!
