what exactly is a wake up light?

Iv'e seen coffee/tea makers that have a wake up light built in that dims on slowly when your clock goes off to get you used to the light.

Anything similar?

Hi, Yes, apparently it wakes you up naturally and makes you start the day happy, although my OH says the idea of waking up to what looks like a solar flare with birds tweeting in the background is not his idea of fun. We will see...
