Is everything Facebook and Twitter these days?

I have noticed over the last few months that there are a lot more competitions which are Facebook, Twitter or Rafflecopter entries only. Is this the way competitions are going for the future? It is a pity if it is since a lot people steer clear of FB and TW - as I tend to.
I can understand why Facebook have been having a bender about the abuse of their site - on the other hand, I see Facebook as a service and how users want to use that service is up to them.
It would be a great pity if companies come to rely solely on these sites to promote their business when it is proven that a competition will draw in customers. For instance, the recent CCL comp for finding reindeer. I managed to find over 3,000 during my coffee and lunch breaks and won a prize for coming about 25th in the final analysis but what was more important was that I am now a regular customer of CCL. If they had promoted their competition on FB or TW I would have never found them.
Just having a moan and ramble - as per.....

Lots of competitions do seem to be on twitter or facebook. Having said that, a lot of small craft type business do seem to promote their businesses on facebook and twitter, so from entering competitions, I have found some unique gifts that I would not otherwise have found.
I wonder where it is all going to stop though, as some of these rafflecopter comps seem to want not only facebook and twitter, but also Pinterest, Instagram, GFC etc. Blog comps baffle me, with the various ways that you can seem to follow blogs.0 -
I don't bother with blog comps, there's usually too many hoops to jump through and the pages take ages to load for me ...
I think FB need to realise that the companies are breaking the rules first and foremost. If companies were stopped from breaking the rules with like and share comps then there wouldn't be a problem ... Of course the individual user is easier to hit than big businesses ...0 -
I used to do Fb all the time. I've stopped doing all but the comps on the apps. I win less from FB so concentrated on twitter. I've won 7 things in the past week... I love that I found unique and personalised gifts on twitter. It's lovely to have things that no one else has too
I don't mind GFC - I've won on google a few times too.
However, I dislike 'blogger only' entries, or you have to follow by connected blogs!I think they ask for too much and some use it as a way of promoting then don't send the prize (Seen a fair few on twitter - but not ALL bloggers run in that way!)
I agree... But, I think comping will slowly get less and less, I know people that have given up, which is why Twitter is easier to win on (IMO)x

Yes, I prefer the app comps - the like and share comps are unfair and if you like and share too much, you get your account suspended!
I'm not so keen on Twitter comps - people could have hundreds of accounts and Twitter doesn't give a hoot. I entered loads over the past two years and only won about five times so now I don't bother.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -

I agree with you re blog comps - they ask far too much and often for a cheap little prize! Unless it is for a kindle or something worth winning, I don't bother with them either.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I don't do many of the Facebook comps unless it's the app ones or something I really want to win as I don't like spamming my friends if it asks for "tell a friend or like and share"
I do a lot of Twitter comps but only have won twice in the whole time comping.
Blog comps and rafflecopter bore me! They ask too much! Like this, tweet that, Google + this ... Nah, I avoid most of them!March Wins
