When I try to send e-mails I get the following message.
The e-mails will eventually send - usually about 48 hours after which just confuses the hell out of everyone!
Yahoo help only seems directed at added e-mail addresses (I don't have any) and won't let me verify the default e-mail address. Any ideas what I can do? I really don't want to change my e-mail address if possible.
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Test', Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 Transaction failed : Cannot send message due to possible abuse; please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/abuse_smtp.html for more information', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F
This has been going on for a while ever since I started getting loads of 'failed delivery' e-mails - just as if I had sent a group e-mail or something. But I hadn't.The e-mails will eventually send - usually about 48 hours after which just confuses the hell out of everyone!

What's happened is that a load of spam has been sent using your email address as the sender's address (hence why all the failure messages came to you: google "email backscatter") and a rather aggressive/naive mail service is blocking you because it thinks you're a spammer. You need to speak to your ISP.0 -
That's what I was afraid of. And really really didn't want to talk to BT but if I must ...... I shall psyche myself up for it!
Thanks for your help.Marg0 -
I would also change your BT email password as there is a chance your BT yahoo account has been hijackhijacke and is sending spam by some spambot. A virus scan on your machine wouldn't go amiss either.0
