Baggy eyes in the morning...solutions?

I get really puffy eyes in the morning and look naff for a couple of hours after waking up. Why it takes so long to unpuff is beyond me. Also, I am very fair skinned and dark circles seem to affect me more than my sister who is not as fair.

I want to wear contacts more often but avoid at the moment due to the sad baggy sleep eyes I tend to avoid.

Tried all kinds of creams, lotions and potions to no avail. I really take care of my skin and I don't mind buying those as they seem to suit my skin best, However, I don't rate over priced eye stuff as nothing seems to make a difference.

Do any of you have any cheap solutions that will help?

Would wearing an eye mask help? Never really liked the feeling of them but would try again if this is worthwhile.

Thanks folk

  • I, too, have a tendency towards baggy eyes in the morning so I sympathize. I do find it matters a lot which eye make up remover I use, the simpler/gentler the better and try not to 'scrub!' Also, I love to sleep on my tummy with no pillows but this is an absolute disaster for my eyes, I look as though I've been crying all night! Great bags of fluid on my lids! So I force myself to sleep on at least a couple of pillows which definitely improves things but I think once you've got a tendency towards baggy eyes then you've got to look towards make up tricks as there is already slack muscle/skin in that area. Good luck!
  • I find its a lot worse if I'm dehydrated. Maybe try drinking more water during the day if you don't already. The other related thing is its def worse if I've been drinking - maybe not relevant for you but just sharing in case.

I feel your pain on this one!!

I second this! I've always had puffy eyes since I was a child - not helped by allergies and chronic conjunctivitis! I notice a real difference if I drink at least 1 litre of water a day - they're still there but not nearly as bad.

I'm using Superdrug Optimum ultra protecting eye cream (super antioxidant grape) in the mornings - this seems to help a bit. Dermalogica do a really good eye treatment as well but it's pricey.

If you're prone to them, no product in the land is going to banish them completely - I've come to accept that. But if I ever win a substantial amount of money, once my debt is clear etc, I plan on paying for cosmetic surgery to get rid of them. They have plagued my life to the extent that I avoid the words 'eyes' in day to day conversation in case I bring attention to them. How sad. :o
  • Its easier for girls as you can wear concealer, I've just embraced my sleeping bags...bah

There are fluid channels in the face and it seems some people are more prone to these being blocked than others (me included). Plenty of water is one help, but there are also pressure exercises around the eye socket that you can do, that will help drain the channels. A regular facial will also help.
  • I drink loads! Water not booze lol!

I have a 1 litre re-usable water bottle at work and drink 2-3 a day. If I have coffee I drink water afterwards to counter the badness.

You know what - my eyes are better after a facial and they taps around my nose/eyes. Ill try that more.

A few things apply so I will try them and see.

    Thanks very much folk x
