Hi Everybody.
I am in the process of buying my one bedroom council flat.
North Lanarkshire Council
The council have had it independently valued at £45000, and with my discount, i can purchase the flat for £16200. I have literally just had this letter within the last 2days. I have 8 weeks to accept this offer, & have an entry date of 30th july
I have been researching who to approach (banks) for the best mortgage deals, and have asked a few to send me details on the current mortgages they offer.
I have also contacted a IFA, who was recommended by my sister, and i will be meeting with him later this weeks.
I have also asked some solicitors for some quotations on handling this type of work. If you can advise me on likely cost here, please do
As a first time buyer, i want to make sure i am covering everything i need to do.
I just want to make sure i do it right. I download the mortgage guide from this site, and its been getting a good read
Do i approach a solicitor at this stage, or wait until i get the mortgage sorted?
Get my own survey done now?
Is there an online best mortgage checker, like the way you have , when you research best quotes on car insurance?
Also, i would like to borrow about £20,000, and the extra would be put towards new Kitchen & bathroom + some other alterations. Would this be a problem with any banks?.
!00% mortgage, or not?
I will be purchasing this on my own, and have a yearly salary of a of £21000.
I would appreciate absolutely any help whatsoever.
Anything that you think i have did wrong, or if you can offer me advice, please do.
all the best
Tom
