My take on it is Boots have bought it for the same price as they usually would- so if they sell it to us for £1 or £100, the charity is still going to get the same amount of money.......
Thanks for the tip on expiry dates, I will have a look.0 -
It's gift republic- they make a 10per cent donation of the rrp (which is 19.99) so this offer wouldn't change the donation made....0

Boots will pay a set price for these - it doesn't matter how much or little the customer buys them for, the charity still gets the same amount of money.
So there's no need to take any kind of high and mighty moral standing - no-one would be moaning if it was a non charity item you could snap up for such a good price!Official DFW Nerd 1390 MFW 0/1800

Just because its a charity gift doesn't mean getting something left over in the sale or on a glitch is wrong, these companies sadly don't sell them just out of goodness of the heart, they have a big mark up on them (the same with charity Christmas cards) and sell off old stock for a less amount taking away from that markupBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

I went to put £10 in a Royal British Legion box for a poppy, but while nobody was looking, I got away with slipping in 10p instead - bargain!

I was destined to be an MSEr, when I was really little I first tried to reuse my poppy then gave them a tiny amount and was pleased with my bargain until my mum explained (so I went and put more in), its very different from these 'charity gifts' which only give a tiny % of the price of the actual charity, boots would of paid them the same no matter what price a customer paysBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

The Meerkat ones I saw had a date of October 2013.
The 'expiry date' is not a great way of putting it - sorry! It is the date by which you have to submit the registration details for the scheme. Hope that makes sense. You have to look right at the bottom of the back of the box to find it.
Oh nooooooooooo. I got some in the sale last year (or was it year before?) and only just gave away the last one this week. I never ever thought of looking for a date! Oh how embarrassing is that that I've given an out of date present!! :eek:0
