Hi Califrey
I just rang up saying I was considering leaving for virgin, and they basically said ok fine - I then panicked thinking of explaining the lack of the Following and Biggest Loser to the OH, and said I would think about it, and phone them back.
How "should" I approach it?

When you first phone, even if you press 'cancellations' option on the phone, you will get through to customer service. You need to ask them to transfer you to cancellations.
All to do is phone up, say you were on the phone they other day to cancel, you were thinking of moving provider due to cost. If you are going to use the 'moving the Virgin' line - make sure Virgin is available in your area! They are told to check, and it looks a bit suss if they catch you out!Explain the OH would love to stay due to a couple of favourite programmes but you're having trouble justifying the cost. Ask if there is anything they can do. If they have an offer applicable to your account, they should be happy to add it, if not, at least you tried. Anything you can shave off your package? HD, multiroom you don't use, unlimited package on your phone that you don't use?

I have checked, and virgin do not cover our area for tv. So should I just tell sky, I cant afford it anymore? Or would they just cut me off?Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

That's fine, just tell them you are having financial difficulty. Even if they say okay, we can cancel it then, there's nothing to stop you saying okay, please don't yet, I need to look at other providers and call you back.
Then no need to call back. Even if they put cancellation on, it'll take 31 days to go through and you can stop it at any time, it won't cut you off straight away.0
