So, anyone got a loose cover settee/sofa?

Options
Thinking of buying a loose cover settee so I can take it off and clean it when it gets dirty.

Anyone got one? Would you recommend it? Pros and cons needed please. :)

Definitely recommend it. One of my sofas has covers that are supposed to be dry clean only, but they wash up fine on a 40 wash. The other sofa has washable covers which, considering the sofa is cream, are a necessity!
  • That's good to know. I have a dog that likes to view the world going by, so she is constantly standing on the settee. Being able to wash the covers appeals to me rather than sponging the settee every so often.

I don't have a loose cover settee, but I got some of those fleece throws from Asda, I think they were £2 each. I bought them in a dark red which is similar in colour to the suite, and cover it with them. They are easy to bung in the wash and dry quickly.
It may not be what you're after, but it's another option.

we bought one of the universal sofa covers, was ok but didnt exactly enhance its look. Was very useful for when we had the pooch and littlies.

we also had 2 sofas with washable covers from ikea, they were great and additional covers were available to change the look. They have some really nice ones too.

  • I have an Ikea loose cover suite and have a spare set of covers so when I wash the covers the spare set goes on. Wash on a 40 degree wash and dry on the line NEVER put them in a tumble dryer or they will shrink
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

  • Thanks for all your replies. I have 'throws' that I can put over the settee, but they are always falling down and looking crumpled. I like the idea of washable loose covers but when I suggested it to OH he said once the covers have been in the wash the settee looks terrible ! I have no idea where he got this notion from as we have only had fabric or leather settees.

I noticed that DFS have two loose cover settees on sale and one of these has a 'free set' of covers with it. Next also do loose cover settees......
