Washing machine......must be female!

Options
Okay now I have your attention :rotfl: Why does it take so long to order one, have it delivered and installed? Ours has packed up today and ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy am I getting major earache for it (if you are reading this post my dear beloved wife then can I just point out I am just a humble husband and not a mechanical expert and because I love you so much I am trying to get things moved on very quickly xxx). The machine I want or fancied (thats the machine luvvieeee and no one else), earliest delivery is 20th May Comet with installation etc.

Anyone got any better ideas for a quicker delivery and installation apart from the missus who at this moment in time for some reason wishes me to be gelded!

  • Hello

I had a similar problem last week - I used Kelkoo, Pricerunner etc and found the best price - however when I called to find out delivery times they were weeks away, I have to use mine daily!! So I called a local one off family electrical shop, paid 15 pounds more than the cheapest but had it delivered 2 days later, fitted installed and the old one taken away for an extra 9.50, against the 19.99 the online companies wanted to charge for disposal. So try a local business, lots match Currys/Comet prices if you ask !
  • I second Katieeloise's advice. You will no doubt pay a litle more at local electrical store but it'll be worth it for the quicker service. And the peace and love it'll bring in your house. :)

    Good luck,
    Frank.

Is it on Rapid Delivery at the Co-op?

I was going to use this service when my washer died a couple of weeks ago, but luckily I managed to fix it myself and it's been working fine since *touch wood* :D
Here I go again on my own....

Our machine packed up before xmas. Deliver dates from the 'big boys' were dreadful. Ended up using John Lewis......got the best price, free delivery (3 days later) and 2 years free guarantee. Could not fault their service. Worth a look.:T

Our fridge packed up on Friday. Looked round for a new one; went into local electrical retailer at 10.45 and placed order. It was delivered at 2.45 the same day - and it was the cheapest price of all the places we looked. Plus the staff actually know what they are talking about. Delivery men took away all the unpacking and made sure all was OK before they left. They were also cheaper to take away the old fridge.

Our washing machine passed away on Saturday. It had been unwell for a long time. Its been fixed twice which was quite pricey so we've opted for a new one. We've ordered from Tesco Direct and delivery is £4.85 and to remove the old machine £4.99. We also found a code on the voucher board for a fiver so we are well pleased. We are just waiting for a delivery date and according to the website it should be this week. I hope so.

found the same washer £254 at comet, I know this doesnt make sense

When our dishwasher died, we found the best comany for quick delivery were john lewis. They were slightly more expensive (£10) although they'll price match other stores (but not internet prices). The delivery guys were great and you can pick your delivery day.

Well I am pleased to inform all (I am still a stallion and havent been gelded now :T ) thanks to a local shop I went in this morning, delivered and installed (this bit they did for nothing so worked out cheaper than the big boys in the end) and I can now hear the gentle swishing of water in the machine........and hopefully a purr or two from the missus later!!!!!!

Thanks to you all for all your help and tips.
