Re-using Christmas Sweet tins any ideas?

Hi
Probably like everyone else I have got two empty celebration/quality street plastic tubs and a couple of metal biscuits tins.
What can I do with them? I was thinking they might be useful for storage but can I make them look any prettier? Could I cover them with something or paint them?
I am not a very "crafty" person but I know that lots of you on here are - I would love your ideas!

I've always used them for storing home-baked cakes, biscuits, scones etc - especially if sending them to school, community centre or church for Home Bake Stalls. I don't mind them going astray so much if they're not proper Tu**erware ones.0
