Renting whilst on a DMP

Hi guys,
My GF and I are hoping to rent and have had an offer accepted by the landlord......... which is subject to all the relevant checks by the estate agent.
He mentioned that one of these is a credit check.
Obviously, i'm on a DMP so the credit history is a bit ropey...... will this cause a problem? What could they do?
Say no or ask for a guarantor ? Or something else?
Would appreciate any advice / knowledge,
Cheers.

There are several options: one is they refuse to rent the house because of a poor credit record, another is they ask for a guarantor who will be liable for the rent and any damage at the end of the period if you fail to pay either, and third they can ask for the entire rent up front for the period of the contract. This can mean six months rent in advance, which isn't easy to find. Once the six month period is elapsed they may then permit monthly payments.
They could of course not do the credit search and then treat you as a normal tenant, saves them the time and cost, you never know your luck.
good luck
