Enforcing a debt owed to me

in 2010 I did some security work for a Gentleman who recruited me through a well known recruitment agency. Cut a long story short, he refused to pay me, saying he was working as an agent and he hadn't been paid, I took him to a small claims court, he replied via court papers saying he didn't owe me. He refused to turn up to court and incidently left the company he was with at the time. The court found in my favour. As he had left the company I had no way of tracking him so i could not enforce the debt so resigned myself to the fact i wouldn't see a penny. Recently i got bored and googled him, and found him on Linkdin! It says he is a director of a ltd recruitment company and has his address, i can only find his previous home address ( found through 192 at a cost of £17!!) Now, i rang the court who say i can still enforce the debt. My question is can i send them to his workplace? The debt currently stands at about £1400

CCJs have a 'shelf life' of 6 years and need renewing. If you got your CCJ against him before 2006 and have not had it renewed (not sure of the process), I believe you are out of time.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Since the "the work" which is the basis of the claim was done in 2010, then I would presume that the CCJ postdates that.

  • There is an excellent series of programmes currently running on BBC1 at 11am weekdays about High Court Sheriffs and their work getting money out of people who owe it. It gives plenty of details about the pro's and con's. If you can't watch live, I'm sure the series is available on iPlayer.

Hi, That is the program that initially made me try and find the guy. The work was done in 2010 so the limitation will not expire til 2016. I am now in a much better financial situation so i can afford to chase him up. 1400 is alot of money
