Hi,

I don't know why but whenever I want to add a comp, I do a search - nothing shows. Add info on to site then someone tells me its a dupe. What am I doing wrong?? I search the competition title as it shows on which ever website I found it from....is that wrong??? It puts me off ever adding any because I am worried its already on.

I rarely post comps now as never seem to find any that aren't already here and I too am guilty of posting dupes in the past.

In terms of searching, I search via stripped down link, by the answer (if it's unusual) or by the prize, again if that is something unusual. I hope that is of some help.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along with a more informative reply.

In the past, I found sometimes the search doesn't work properly and says no results but if you search again the results come up. I noticed it when trying to catch up and clicking on the next page of search results and suddenly it tells me that there are no results but refreshing again brings up the results.

on the green line, not the full forum search at the top of the page which is much less accurate for finding comps.

Never believe the single green box that comes up- it lies
If there's truly nothing, then the page is much busier and offers more search options. Otherwise, it should show other, similar comps.

I usually search the stripped URL, then maybe a few key words in nothing shows- not "Win iPad" tho'!

Another thing to bear in mind, particularly if posting from an email you've just received or a post that's just appeared on Facebook, is that search can take a few minutes to update, so look at recently posted comps.

That said, I still manage to dupe at times too. If you know you've searched, don't beat yourself up and thanks for trying XX

only posted a single comp but have searched for a few i found.

all i did was sort by title then look at the end date, i found it easy enough to do it that way although it may take a little longer.
