If you want very good advice, from people who know exactly what and what not to say, then go to this forum and post a query -

Incidentally, you can't get on a bus without first paying for it, so why should the railways be any different?
just remember folks jobsworth railway forums will always give a biased view. they have to look after their own and have no concern about the poor rail passenger. as long as they settle out of court. ie. increase share holders profitsFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
I'm just linking to the site, it's up to the OP in question if they want to use a 'jobs worth railway forum' or not. However, I have seen plenty of people post on there who have been caught hook line and sinker, and managed to settle out of court when they should have been fined a hefty amount and had a criminal record.
So it's worth a try.
Or, like I said earlier, buy a ticket before you travel unless the station doesn't have a ticket machine or permit to travel machine.0 -

The people at that forum seem to be biased in favour of giving useful and accurate advice. That does annoy some people here who prefer the alternativesCan I help?0 -

i didnt name any forum, but after checking a certain foamers forum which ur user name also appears quite often. the opinion i see is 'you're guilty as charged so settle out of court as this will give our masters more money than a RRA prosecution'Fares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0
