Me and my wife split up and basically doesnt want anything to do with mortgage and agreed for me take over as chnaces are we prob in neg equity. So I paid the mortgage fee and been excepted but has to be all done legally by solicstor. So my wife decided to contact her solicstor as I don't really know any had estimate saying it be £775 which seems steep to me as at the end of the day just taking her name off surely this cant be right. I can do a breakdown if need be.

If the property is in negative equity then highly possible your lender won't allow the transfer.0

Mortgage company has already agreed we got housevalued prob break even but usuaally if you sold it you get under offer these days so prob be negative, how ever I need to get all donethrough solictor s as my mortgage company advise just that quote seemed steep.0

Typical fees (for a uncomplicated transfer of equity) are circa £400 - £600 (depending where you are in the UK)
£700+ does seem rather excessive - perhaps shop round for a couple of comparison quotes.
Hope this helps
