Mint card question for parents

Excuse this question, but you DFW's are great, and would probably know this.
My Mom paid off her Mint card a few months ago, and didn't think to cancel it. Then last week she received a bill for £29 for "insurance" from Mint. She rung to query it, and they weren't helpful.
Any ideas what this is? I initially thought PPI, but not on £0 balance.
Also, is it possible to claim cc charges? I know bank charges are the thing, but my Mom went something like £3 over and got £60 in charges. They told her she signed the agreement, etc.
Thanks

Could it be one of these 'insurances' they like to flog that 'protect' all your cards and such rubbish if they get stolen or lost?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

It could be anything. Any recurring payments on any CC, such as insurance, sky tv etc will continue (even if the card has been cancelled)
As to the charges, course she can.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

When you say they 'weren't helpful', do you mean they couldn't (or wouldn't) tell her what it was for? What does the bill say? You make it sound as if its a charge from mint, rather than a transaction on the card as oscar52 mentions. Surely if its a charge from them then they have to be able to tell her what its for?!?! Most likely the rubbish card insurance as I-A says.
Personally I'd be on the phone and insistent that they tell me what it was for!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs.
