beetroot too vinegary

I bought some packets of beetroot to make soup with, just chopped it up and addded it to the stock of onions, garlic and carrots, tried a little and realised its got a hint of vinegar in it
im really sensitive to vinegar, it only has to have a tiny bit in a food and i can taste it a mile off
what can i do to tone it down? ive put a couple of dessert spoons of castor sugar in but i still get the taste, i dont want to put too much sugar in incase it becomes too sweet
is there anything else i can do?
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

Add sugar a bit at a time and taste in between. It'll be fine.

I have the same problem, in that most things with vinegar give me indigestion.

I make sure that I buy the shrink-wrapped beetroot from the major supermarkets - usually the SmartPrice Long-life one from Asda. It's just 'boiled beetroot'. No signs of any vinegar in it :).

i did buy a tub of fresh beetroot soup once, i did read the ingrediants and saw it said vinegar but thought theyll only use a touch but no it was awful i had a couple of mouthfuls and had to throw it!
i love dips too but most of them have vinegar in aswell and any with crisps in make me sweat and go red!
