Adult/Child Table Gifts & Ladies Gifts for Posh Function?

Hello everyone

I'm looking to make/compile some gifts for an annual function that is my turn to organise.

It's a dinner jacket and posh frock do, mostly adults but (nice to see) a growing number of children now go too.

This year it's my turn to organise the event, and every penny I can save on the following can go back as a bit of extra money to my chosen charity (the evening has a big charity focus too)

However, there is an expectation that the gifts will look nice (and it is a special occasion, so I think they should look nice!) I was looking for some inspiration for the following please :)

Oooohhhh, and my chose colour theme (in case it makes a difference) is blue - the colour scheme of my chosen charity. We don't know numbers yet, but it could be between 60-80 couples. The hotel we are booking will decorate the tables with a blue candle in a latern, and sprinkle with blue tealights which I think will be great to set the ambience :D

Table Gifts/Favours for each guest:
Thoughts so far were
- Home made truffles in a blue organza bag
or
- White & blue sweets in a small blue paper cup

Childrens table gift:
The younger kids can get a tad restless as there is a lot of sitting and eating, sprinkled with a larger than necessary number of toasts and speaches. I wanted to put a small something out to keep the kids amused during the less interesting bits. They need to be quite and not distracting (ie bouncey balls flying all round the place would make me not so popular!). Thoughts so far:
- Small activity book & pencils
- Scratch art (you can get these with wooden scratching sticks

Ladies Gift:
Others usually just buy something generic in, but I wanted to hand make something/a couple of bits, making them much more special. As cheap as possible so I can try and save some back to give an extra donation to my the charity. Ideas so far:
- Beaded bookmark (you can get the silver squiggly bookmarks on eBay to add beads to) with blue beads
- A memory wire bracelet - 3 coils thick, with a mix of clear and blue crystal beads

Any alternative suggestions / ones to add to this would be greatfully recieved.

You talk about organza bags- just found these online- are these what you mean? Looks like they are 20 pence each at the momentThat's an awful lot of homemade truffles to make!

For the Ladies you could make these origami bags - use 2x 8" squares of fabric- very easy- to hold whatever, in shades of blue. The memory wire bracelets sound great

Bag the 8" size will hold a chocolate orange -gives you an idea of size. Also would hold a round tablet of soap
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

  • What about a £1 coin in a little bag or box with a little poem attached saying something about donating to the charity. Then you could have a little wishing well and people could put the coins in there...xx
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)

Thanks guys xx Those origami bags look sweet! Yes, I was thinking that's a lot of truffles... 90 or so individual ones to make (if say 3 in a bag and for 60 guests)

I like the idea of the wishung well....will have to see what others think, and the ladies will expect a keep sake to take home too, but I like that idea.... even if it's not a pound coin, but a token of some sort...! :D

Just a thought dotcomgiftshop have a sale on - just pulled a link to the hearts there £1.00 each, - which would be great for the ladies,

Children - If you go somewhere like Wilkinsons, £1 shops etc - do them a little colouring set, - coulouring pencils, book, bubbles you blow, men - you could do a bottle of beer - cello wrap it.

We've just had my parents golden wedding last weekend, and we put goodie bags for the adults, - most were couples - did a small gift bag (heart got dotcomgiftshop), keyring, purse tag, mini notepad, the men had bottle beer - cello wrapped it, and then we put in a jar of mixed sweets. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Hi, there are lots of ideas on the marth stewart website for edible gifts, the packaging and what to put inside

It sounds like you are going to do a great job not only helping out the charity but also organising the function.

For the children to be occupied - papers for origami, I like the idea of scratch art. Is the event going to be in the evening? I was thinking about the lighting for children doing activities.

It sounds like you are organizing a lovely event Shortie. Another idea for the ladies maybe a handbag charm, they are easy to make. You could also do cufflinks for the men to match. What will be the age ranges of the children?
