my favorite shopping trip

Options
Unforunately they've stopped doing it now but about a year ago you could still get the cost of your shopping reduced by buying the fresh things that were reduced but that were on multibuy (I'm sure it's been covered here before)

My best trip was buying a whole lot of shopping and miscalculating the reduction - when the cashier rang it up the total was a confused -27p.. MINUS 27p! She looked at me, ready to pay, and I looked at the total... quickly I picked up a Cadbury's Creme Egg and offered the 3p difference. Everything made sense on the cashier's little screen, she accepted and I left with three bags of shopping and a snack for the way home...

Still makes me giggle :)

Still happens at Sainsbury's on reduced items - the multibuy still kicks in - quite often you're paid to take their goods out!
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

Last summer my DH and I got paid to make a batch of strawberry jam. Strawberries reduced to 20p a punnet but were on 2 for £2 or similar (bought about 16 punnets!) . The discount went through at the right price of about 60p discount on each pair of punnets I think. We bought lemons, jam sugar and ginger for the jam plus some other bits and ended up paying about £1-00 for the whole lot. 10 jars of jam later, we were very happy bunnies! Will be looking out for similar deals this year.

This still works frequently in my local co-op with the multibuys and with the BOGOFs you would get both at the reduced price, which is makes it worth it! :D It used to work in somerfield last time I tried (but that was a year or so ago) so I don't know if that still happens. Definitely doesn't work in my local ASDA though.
