                    Hi all,
I hope someone out there can help me ....please......
I went into an un-arranged overdraft with santander for the amount of £15. They have charged me £50 a day untill its reached £400, i have refused to pay and now have debt agencies asking for £415 with no negotiations. (moorecroft agency). I know i spent £15 when i had no money in my account but i think getting charged £400 is excessive. is there anything i can do? or do i just have to bite the bullet and pay. I have offered to pay £215 but still not accepting.
Please help and if i've put this into a wrong form, forgive me but am new to this site and a friend of mine said this is probs the best place to get answers.
Many thanks in advance.

You might be able to get somewhere with the Santander complaints department *if* it is the first time this has happened to you. If it is a regular occurrence it will be more difficult/impossible to get the charges removed.
You might also have left it too late by the time it got to Moorcroft.
You might want to look for another bank account...0 -
So you think a £415 charge is excessive but a £215 charge is not?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

thank you for your replies, i have already closed the account.
of course £215 is still a lot but its a lot better than £415, and yes this was the first time i have ever done this with them.
I will attempt to contact their complaint department and see how it goes. i have tried unsuccessfully at the main branch's.0 -
you can complain on-line via Santanders website, linked from home page.
saves a stamp and means you will get a response.:beer:0 -
Santanders current accounts have a 150 pounds monthly charges overall cap(unless its a 123 which is 95)
Which type of account was it?0 -
Also the charges should be 5 pounds per day not 50. If you have been charged 50 instead of 5 definitely raise a complaint and they will rightly refund or reverse said charges0

it was a student account with £1000 overdraft, i closed the overdraft and told them to cancel it, my balance was £0 with no overdraft when i went over by £15. thank you soooo much for that, i will quote that to them. seriously to everyone who's responded, thank you. you guys know way more than me.0

            Hi Danny :hello:
Charges of £50 a day would only take 8 days to reach £400 and DCAs wouldn't get involved that quickly.
Are you sure it wasn't £5 per day charges?LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
