Maiden name on Passport

Hey! Hope someone can help me out here!

My passport has still got my maiden name on it, I understand I have to give this for ID for a mortgage application, so will this affect it? All other things like driving licence, bank accounts have been changed to my new surname. Will it be suitable to include marriage certificate and deed poll (maiden name now my middle name) to confirm this?

Thanks

I've still got my maiden name on my passport and have gone through 2 mortgage applications without ever needing it. Do you really need your passport or are there other forms of ID they will accept?

Just use your driving licence as proof of identity.
  • I would have thought birth certificate + marriage certificate would be 100% acceptable.

Perhaps, it probably will. But why supply three documents when a simple driving licence will suffice?
  • A Passport in maiden name with a copy of your marriage certificate will be fine for ID (unless your wedding date was quite some time ago in which case some will query that it hasnt been changed). Or you can just use your driving licence if this is in your new name.
BUT if you want to use your driving licence as address verification (assuming this has your correct address on and you have no utility bills to use instead) you will need the passport as ID and the DL for address - cant use the same document twice!

As others have said, passport isn't the only choice for ID.

But why not get the passport changed?
  • You have to pay for a new passport, they can't/won't change the name and keep the existing expiry date - a policy that costs the female population much more than males as it tends to be females changing their name on marriage or divorce.

Therefore some choose not to change until their passport is running out.
