Possible win?

Hi all,

I received this
Hi There,
Giles from Hammerfest here. You won the tickets. Please call me on 020XXXXXXXX to claim them between 4pm and 9pm weekdays.

And was wondering if anyone thought it was actually legit? I have only entered one competition for these tickets (this one https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4394401), which doesn't end until February. The email 'To' field shows up as blank, it went to my Junk folder and it's not actually addressed to me personally. It's also a London phone number, while their UK office is on the channel islands. Googling the number doesn't give me any results.

However, the email address ends in @emc3i.com, although it's not from a 'real persons' email. They appear to be real company, who are involved with Hammerfest among other events.

It just seems a bit odd that I received the email on the same day I entered the comp when it doesn't end for another month.

Does anyone have any ideas before I call the number?

    Hi :)
Why don't you try emailing info@hammerfest.co.uk and ask them if it is genuine or not. Tell them about the email you received and see if they can help. That email address is the one you would have emailed for the comp.

Why not simply call? What have you got to lose?

Interestingly, just has a call from 0208xxxxx41 to tell me I've won 6 three day passes to Hammerfest. They're pushing the paid for accommodation option but it doesn't appear to be required.

I got an email saying I'd won today as well

Recently you entered a competition with Metal Hammer for tickets to Hammerfest 5 – In Fear of the Dragon!!

You have been chosen as one of the winners so congratulations!!!

I will need to speak to you to let you know more about what you have won

Unfortunately I did not get a contact number for you!

You can reach me ay the Hammerfest head office on xxxxxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxxxx

If you like you can drop me a line back with your number and I will give you a call!

    Congratulations again and speak soon!

My guess is tickets aren't selling too well? It's not the best of locations I must say. It would take 10 hours for me to get to Pwllheli from South Wales on a coach according to National Express . Something like 3-4 hours on the train. And neither option is cheap :p

We've also got an email saying we won...well all we can do is see what turns up after speaking with them.
Ours was from Terri at Chic festival, and the tel number ties in.

Looks like winners are putting them up on Ebay now.

Spoken them today and it's all above board.
Our tickets cover thursday preparty (japanese samurai fancy dress), friday, and saturday.
As it's in the middle of nowhere, she did say she had held back some accommodation on site for about £90pp for three nights selfcatering.
As it's a Haven holiday park the food/drink franchises will be open.
    Music from around 5pm-MN.
There was a hint that more tickets might be available if you booked onsite accommodation for everyone.

I think we might just go for the saturday, but calling back next week once we arrange who can go.

Speaking to a few people who are into this stuff, they say lineup is pretty dire..lol...
  • I won 6 day passes too, Got a call monday and then they sent the email so i could 'purchase' the tickets and then had a follow up call on Tuesday so check it went right. Mine are for the Friday and Saturday night.
We could of had accommodation too but for £80 each for three nights-we said no to that. Luckily were only about a 2 hour drive so were all just going to go down for the Saturday too and the drive home. :)

At the checkout it said the total value was £648! :O

Shall we have a little group of MSE'ers at the back huddled round a little radio listening to Radio2?
