Hi I booked to go to butlin skegness for four nights in may. I put down two adults one child and one infant.
Just received booking email from butlins to find they had missed my infant off.
Just spoke to butlins to get my infant added on. Also asked about removing entertainment passes and was told they now issue wrist bands and without these we would be able to use the fair, pool etc, is this right ?. Also have to pay for pass for two year old.
Asked to remove linen and was told would need to bring duvet and pillows is this right? Thought we would just have to take covers and sheets and pillow cases.
Looked at upgrading to silver but would be another fifty pounds. Is it worth upgrading?

Hi someone who has been to butlins more recently than me may correct me if things have just changed but I was just there in the summer on a sun hol deal and you did not need passes in fact they just didn't have them full stop. I usually book direct with them and again have never been issued with any kind of pass. When I phoned to take them off my sun hol booking the guy on the phone asked if I had ever been before and when I said yes he took them off. Maybe it has changed since summer but my response is no you don't. Regarding linen I took that off too and took stuff with me but actually it was in our accommodation. We stayed standard. Usually do silver and we didn't really see a great difference in accommodation. Our standard apt was cleaner and better equipped than a couple of our silver visits. Hope this helps.0

Thank you for your reply. The women I spoke to started on about wrist bands when she mentioned the new pool. If I got them took off and when we arrived it turned out we needed them can you buy them on site?Married 09/09/090

Hi,
When you say silver isn't much different to Standard which butlins are you referring to? We have booked standard accomodation through Sun hol for Skegness (may half term weekend) and were thinking about upgrading to silver but am not really sure. We stayed at Bognor butlins last may in a gold apartment and I really wasn't that impressed it was clean but tiny and tatty when we took a look round we actually thought the standard apartments looked more spacious! Which is important to us as we have 3 kids so we were thinking of trying out standard or silver so just wondered if you were referring to Skegness? As would rather save abit of money if its not really worth it. Also we never got issued any passes at Bognor that was last May 2012 we just showed our keys to get into pool and evening entertainment and had a credit card style card to get into restuaurant. However I have seen there is a new waterworld opening at skegness so maybe they are referring to that but to be honest I think they just say these things to try and get you to buy them as I have read loads of posts on this and some people ring and get them taken off no probs and some people get told they can't for whatever reason I really think its luck of who you get when you ring up. I'm sure you could blag it if you got there and you had taken them off but you did actually need them depends how risky you are though.0 -
Hi, yeah it was Skegness that we stayed standard in the summer. I think I have always been worried about standard apts as they are not as pretty to look at from the ouside but not hugely different to standard. Beds were the same, furniture was pretty much the same, deco maybe be not quite the same but as I said it was clean and comfortable. Major difference in appliances seems to be a microwave which you get in silver but not in standard. To us that didnt matter as we can live without one for a few days. I never thought I would be happy staying standard as Im quite picky about places but once I got into our accommodation I was more than happy and dont think we'd book anything else now to be honest. Im not sure as to whether the 'new' splash world will need passes as I have yet to visit since the summer. Dont know whether skegness isnt as tight on showing things but I havent even needed to show a key except to get through the main entrance to the place to enter the pool or any bar area.:beer:0

Does anyone know if you book 2 of these holidays together so you get a week, do you then need to buy 2 lots of passes. There is 6 of us so if you did I would have to buy 12 passes which fairly adds on the cost.
Also if you didn't buy the passes and then when you got there found you needed them can you just buy them at reception while you're there or do they need to be booked in advance. I'm not much of a risk taker so if I can't buy them there I'll just buy them to make sure I have them.0 -
We took entertainment passes off last Summer at Bognor and they weren't needed at all : )
However, we have just had an Xmas break at Minehead (not sun break) where everyone was issued with wristbands. Might have been because it was Xmas ?0
