Is it possible for to pay NI contributions, which would contribute towards state pension, on those *previous* tax years when a mature student in full-time education?
If so, how much would these payments cost?
Thank you.

But this has not been amended for the latest proposals regarding the flat rate pension from 2017 when 35 years of contributions will be required.0 -

Hardly surprising, they've only just published the white paper. It still has to be debated and voted on in both houses.
No point in changing the various websites until it's passed into law, if any changes result from the debates/votes they'd only have to change the sites again - what the sites say at present is correct under the current legislation.0 -
Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a similar query on the eligibility to make voluntary contributions.
I know somebody who has come to the UK from Hungary, aged 45, and she will only get a maximum 21 years service under current rules and SPA at 66. Is she eligible to make voluntary contributions for the six years prior to her arrival in the UK? There seems to be no definitive answer on HMRC site, but my suspicion is "no" because she was not resident in UK in those previous years, and therefore not eligible for UK NI. Is this correct? Any help greatfully appreciated.0 -
