I am considering buying one for my husband...

They are quite expensive though! Found one one sale in blacks....£120 jacket for £90.....

He had a adidas jacket that lasted 4yrs....wondering how good northface is in termss of durability and quality...
Other brand recommendations welcome!

Thanks@

A fashion item as opposed to a equipment item.

Not true, they fulfill both criteria. You pay a premium because they are also a fashion item, and you can get other good jackets that perform well for less money. But they are still a performance item developed for and used in extreme conditions.

I agree, they are expensive, but they are good quality and pretty technical too.

I love mine it is really warm and totally waterproof, it does depend on which jacket you mean though as they do quite a range...

By and large as with a lot of clothing you are paying for a name and not always quality . This is a decent guide as to a garments weatherproofing qualities.

Make a note of the ratings and choose your garments by this rather than by name .
