Twenty-two branches and sub-offices of the Ulster Bank are due to close across Ireland, the bank has confirmed.

Eleven are located in Northern Ireland and will close by June.

The branches are: Jordanstown; Longstone Street, Lisburn; Knock and Shaftesbury Square, Belfast; Harryville near Ballymena; Carryduff near Belfast and Dromore in County Tyrone.

The bank said there would be no additional job losses as a result of the announcement.

Another 11 branches will close in the Republic of Ireland.

    My guess this is only the first batch of closures, more will follow in due course as with Danske.

    Bit strange closing the Lisburn branch? Are there anyothers around here or will we have to venture further for a branch?

    It's not the main Lisburn Branch, it's the small one in Longstone Street.

    To be honest most customers rarely or never enter the branch ,and that's the same with all banks.
    With internet banking ,phone banking and ATM in the corner shop most off us don't need branches .Branch hours are useless for those off us that work all day .

    Businesses will miss them for lodging takings. Apart from that you are correct which is why the branch network will shrink substantially in time.
