I got the email below. I did enter the comp, but am have sent no information as no secure way of doing it was provided.
I sent an email requesting more advice about how to pay securely. Is it me or does this seem odd to you?
Congratulations!
You entered our very popular April promotion whereby every 100th booking or entrant where no purchase was necessary.
You have been selected as a WINNER of a travel voucher to the value of £100.
I do need to process this prize further. In order for me to raise the travel voucher of £100 I need an admin charge of 99p from you by way of debit card. Please would you reply with the following details to make this 99p payment.
Full name
Billing address of the card that you wish to make payment with.
Card number across the middle of the card.
Valid from and expiry dates.
Issue number (not on all cards).
3 digit security code - the last 3 digits on the security strip.
Once again - Congratulations and Thank you for looking through ebookers.com
kind regards
Paul Banks

Looks a bit strange to me Prudent...specially as they dont ask you where or when you want to go(if you know what i mean)If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

It seems strange that they need to charge you 99p to give you £100, especially asking for the security code on the back of the card.
Offer to send them a po and see what they say.42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot:hello: Good Luck everyone !:hello:0 -
Good idea Gilla. I have phoned ebookers. There phone operators were not helpful, and didn't even know about the promotion.0

Well done, first Ebookers win!!! But I agree, I would not send any payment via e-mail. If explaining this in an e-mail, I am sure you can ring them instead:)0

Maybe ask the lady that won one on the last promo and see what happened with her payment. I certainly wouldn't send the info through email and really can't see how a bone fide company would ask you to do such a thing. It also looks odd that the signature is just Paul Banks ebookers management? I wonder if someone has thought that this promo might be a good way to spam bank details out of people.
Another thing... just reading over the email again, the grammer isn't very good - often a sign of a spam
Just all seems wrong to me, wrong wrong wrong0 -
Says you have to pay 99p on the OP:

Here's the T&C for it too
http://www.ebookers.com/holidays/promos/terms-99p.html
asking for details by email, just email back and ask for a phone number

I don't think paying 99p is a problem, the way they're asking for it is though
T&C's don't state how the 99p will be collected but does say if you have any queries should be sent by email to promotions@ebookers.com0 -
Everything that's been asked for is asked for is standard practice for card not present transactions but you definitely shouldn't send them via an unsecure channel like email.
The only way I'd send those details would be 'phone, fax, or secure internet page or paypal etc.
Hopefully the man will reply to your email with details of one of those methods.0 -
I agree, doesn't sound at all legit to me. May i ask the email address this was sent from? was it a proper ebookers address?0

I have just had another email to say he will phone me from the office on tuesday, so it looks ok. I need to take my call on the mobile so the number will display. If not I shall phone him back there. Hopefully I am a winner! Yey!0
