Prepay Gas/Elec

Not sure if really in correct location but is due to bankrupt

I have gone on to Prepay as went Bankrupt in Oct 2012. My question is has anyone managed to get a credit account with any supplier???

I can save £250 a year by swapping suppliers and going onto a credit account but will I get accepted and do I get my meters changed free??

Looking on utilities section my current supplier will charged me £100 to change meters and £150 for gas and £150 for elec deposit (like I have £400 in my back pocket)

EON do (so it says) change FOC and I can switch to them and once I have swapped to them and had meters changed I can then swap to a cheapest supplier

Co-Op are the best supplier saving me £250 and I have just emailed them asking if they charge to change meters

Any tips on this please??

    Hi iosullivan

Just to let you know, we do change meters from prepayment to credit for free but this is subject to an external credit check.

Provided this comes back ok, we'll change the meters without charge.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks but I think on the bases I went bankrupt in oct 2012 and not discharged think the credit check will be an issue

If failed check what cost are incurred?

    Hi iosullivan

    Sorry for the late reply.

From what you say, it's highly unlikely we'll agree to change your prepayment meter back to credit.

Were you to apply to switch, though, we wouldn't charge to carry out the credit check.

    Hope this answers your question.
