I went to view a house today that has no hot water cylinder .The house is a repossession and the agent hadn't a clue .
The heating is oil but how do you heat the water ?
anyone any idea on this .No gas in the area .The only place we didnt look was the attic .

Works just the same as a condesning gas boiler with no hot water cylinder.
Water is heated on demand when you turn a tap on.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
If it's a combi boiler then you won't have hot water. Do you have an electric shower? At least you could still bathe and you can use a kettle in the kitchen.so if I run out off oil I am stuffed:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

What I mean is there wont be an immersion heater as back up ,I assume thats correct . The house is 10 years old ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

nope no sign that there ever was a cylinder .The fireplace is missing and some off the lights the wires have been cut inside the boiler and the garage door is gone apart from that its a great house.:rotfl:It`s copper.
I`d be surprised if thats the only thing thats missing out of a repo.... double check all utilities, sewage etc.."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

Not being able to produce hot water if you ran out of heating oil would appear to be a long way down the list of potential pitfalls with this property!!
It's only a phone call away after all. Sometimes on 2 day delivery in cold weather, but your tank will have a big gauge on the side anyway...British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Check for cement in the drains and sewers, a common sabotage0

Yes, though on the plus side it will use less oil as it only heats water 'on demand'.
Also, during the summer you dont need to use electric to heat a tank full of water (or remember to switch the immersion on)
Its actually a great system. We had it in two houses - the radiators heat pretty much instantly and hot water all the time.0
