Jessops and credit agreements

Hi, looking for some much needed advice. My dad signed credit agreement and paid deposit for a camera (Sony Cybershot thing), however after couple weeks and still no goods, Jessops offered him the display one until new one could be honoured, which was just put into a carrier bag (folks needed it for trip). On the receipt a note was scribbled 'swap for new when stock is delivered'.

I have contacted the finance company and they said that Jessops told them that goods were collected! The credit is for £550, surely my dad is not liable to pay for display goods at 'new' price?

Please advise! :j

He signed a credit agreement and collected the goods.

Unfortunately he owes the full price.
