Brother owes HMRC - pay owed to accountant!

    Lots of clients simply send a cheque (payable to HMRC) through their accountant as the accountant is likely to keep a copy of the cheque, covering letter and some indication of postage (e.g. post book), and can check that the correct references are used - this can work for you if a cheque is misplaced and you need to appeal interest and penalties.

    If an accountant insisted on transferring money to their account I'd steer well clear. Ask them to set out the details you need to use for an online payment in an email or letter and DIY - its not difficult at all
