How to write answer..?

I know this may seem like a silly question... (sorry!) For the past year I've been wondering!
If you need to put an answer in.... what do you put?!
For example: How many hours in a day?
A) 12
b) 24
c) 60
Would you put just the letter corresponding to the answer, the answer or both!
I have never known what to do so put both, wondering if there is a right way or wrong way!

I'd not over-analyse it.I think any of your choices would be OK with the promotors of most comps0
