Blogging Co-Op

Lots of people run little blogs, but you have to be really dedicated or lucky to earn any money from them.
It occurred to me that a blog run as a co-op might work better for us trying to earn some extra cash ... i.e. lots of people all writing for the same blog and sharing any revenue proportional to words written or something.
Does anyone know if this exists anywhere? Any blog co-ops already out there?

There are lots of blogs that have several writers, and it's definitely a good way to do it as it's a lot of work to maintain a decent blog all by yourself. The only thing is that obviously the more contributers regularly involved the less revenue you'll each make individually after it gets split.
It'd just have to be a long term thing - you'd have to be prepared not to make much money right away but if everyone involved works hard and the content is good you might eventually make some money from it.
I reckon the way it would work best is if you pick a particular theme for the blog and that everyone contributing is genuinely interested in and passionate about that topic. That way you'll get decent content and people are more likely to read it.
Sounds like a good idea overall though - something that you can enjoy and eventually make a little money from!0 -
Also bear in mind most blogs are very much a long term thing. Budget on 6 months to achieve reasonable traffic numbers and probably longer to get significant earnings. As such, set out from the start how payouts will long long term as writers come and go. Will the writers who contribute for the first 3 months then give up, get any cash if the blog earns anything a year later? Will new writers in several years time get an equal share as those who've been writing all along and getting the blog established?
It's a good plan though, as you need a lot of good skill to create a really good and successful blog: writing, web design, search engine optimisation (SEO) etc. Few people excel in all areas.
Another angle would be to start a blog off, then hunt for lots of guest writers with a view to instating some for regularly updates. Pop by https://www.myblogguest.com, it's a great place to mix with bloggers, those with blogs needing content and writers needing blogs for their content. Though much is other sites wanting to publish guest articles to get a good back link to their site.0
