I had a Microstore 2.2gb microdrive last year and I had no end of problems with it, not that I am saying this one will encounter similar problems, price is certainly good. But just bare in mind anyone that gets one of these is that they are slow to write comapred with compact flash cards (they are different technology), and a lot of cameras don't support microdrives, so please bare that in mind. Always check your instruction book that came with the camera for compatability before deciding whether you want one.
Edit the card wasnt faulty as I had another one, it was slow, camera often wouldnt turn on, and had to resort to taking the card out and resinserting it, and it was compatable with the camera. Even when they do work they are very slow. I am sure these work find, but its soemthing to bare in mine compatability and slow writes as they are the main problems with microdrives.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
its an ok deal but u can commonly get same standard 2.2GB compact flash cards on ebay for around £40-£50, so i wouldnt class is as a grabbit while u can. Expansys is stuipidly overpriced on this item.

EDIT: Opps someone beat me to it!0 -
Nice find. This is a micro drive very useful , especially in digital cameras, personally though I still prefer a memory card with no moving parts"Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0

Most cheap eBay items are either in USA or Far East
so you'll end paying Import Duty & VAT on them
I made that mistake last year for a 1gb CF Card0 -
Just got mine today & using on my Garmin 2610 it is a little slower finding address's than the Kingston 1Gb CF Card
At least I now can have the Full European Maps down to street level0 -
Recieved mine yesterday, works a treat in my Minolta Dimage 7i digital camera (5MP), I can get around 750 photos on a single card now. Seems to be much quicker at reading than my old 512MB CF card, write speed seems the same.0

About six months ago I spent a long time looking at CF cards and microdrives. There was only one 2.2Gb card at the time, made by MagicStor. There were no end of reports about problems, incompatabilities et c. In the end I avoided it a bought a Lexar card (1Gb for the same price as the MagicStor, but at least it works reliably!).
Doing a quick search on google suggests that MagicStor are still the only manufacturer of 2.2Gb CF II cards (other dodgy sounding names most likely being rebadges - for instance Shrek mentions a MicroStore card, but if you search on google, you find it called MicroStore but the photograph shows that it's a MagicStor drive). So, I'd steer well clear of this unless your camera explicitly states that it's been tested with one of these cards...0 -
I'd agree with wittering Fool that it's worth doing a check somewhere like https://www.dpreview.com to make sure that someone else has tried out these cards with your camera. I think most of the cards are actually made by hitachi. IBM owns the patent and licenced it to Hitachi if I recall correctly) They mainly make them to go in things like Ipods, but also places like magicstor sell them direct to the public for digicams and pda's.
To be fair it was a year a go when there was serious problems with the 4GB and 2.2GB variants, but its worth doing the research before you shell out!

Well Garmin mention the MagicStor Drive isn't compatible with the 2610 but this ones works OK with itThe StreetPilot 2610/2650 is compatible with the IBM/Hitachi 1 GB microdrive. Detailed maps may be loaded to the 1 GB microdrive while it is in the unit—you do not need to purchase a separate card reader to download maps onto the microdrive. However, GS MagicStor microdrives are not compatible with the StreetPilot 2610/2650.0
