Pocket sprung mattress

I've been searching, researching, reading for days and getting nowhere fast. I even took out a £1 trial with Which? - hardly any help, except I found that Millbrook are a better brand than most.
So, how do you think this mattress will suit two larger than average people, one with back problems and both side-sleepers? We have a divan base and currently sleep on an open-coil firm mattress which is sagging in the middle.

I realise there are many threads about mattresses but so many seem to have turned into arguments about one particular person, it's hard to know what to believe! Thanks for any comments....
I forgot to mention, there isn't a single shop in this area that sells anything other than the big names which I want to avoid, everything I've seen is poor quality for stupid prices, so please don't suggest I try the mattress in a shop, I can't!

I don't know that particular model but, if it's any help, I can say that the most comfortable bed I've ever owned was a Millbrook. I got mine from Benson's but don't know if they still stock them.0

Thanks for that, I'll look again at Bensons but they seem to only have the standard makes now. I might just have to take a risk!0

It all boils down like some many things in life, to budget.
Hypnos and Vi-Sprung are considered very top end.
Millbrook are a good brand, but like all Brands you do pay somewhat for the name.
One mattresses that I now off that is a beast is this....http://www.bestpricebeds.co.uk/restus-crystal-3000-natural-pocket-divan-bed-pid4506.html
Now I not recommending the seller as it's a link to whole bed and not mattress only. But with 3,000 springs and 4 rows of hand side stitching is A LOT of mattress for the money.
Also have a good look around http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/ think they also have a very very good returns policy. The only slight down side is I personally think they are a little over priced. As they use their own products and sales pitch of we tell you what is exactly in the mattresses.
Good luck with it.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Thanks for your advice pinkypants.
The budget is tight, max £350, the Millbrook I found for just under that on bestpricebeds. It looks like the best I can afford, but the price goes back up to £360+ in a few days. I'm going to go for it since it's 1400 pocket springs and has an 8 year warranty.0 -
I had to visit the local retail park yesterday and popped into Benson's. Afraid the assistant said none of their stores stock Millbrook nowadays.
I don't think you will go far wrong with a Millbrook 1400 pocket spring for £350, other than that I think you said before it is orthopaedic. Will it be too firm?

Did you see the website that Pinkypants link goes to has your mattress at £332? (Also, 1440 springs is the King size. Can't find how many in the standard double but probably 1100 or 1000 which is still ample.)0 -
Vi-Sprung are considered very top end.
And very comfortable they are too ........... but way outside your stated budget. But would expect to last as well a my previous mattress, 20 years.0 -
Spring count is always done on a 5ft mattress, doesn't matter what size you buy. Look at any mattress 1000,1200,1400 springs etc. That's the count of 5ft. 4ft6 will have less then those stated, likewise a 6ft wide will have more.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0

I ordered the Millbrook Orthocare 1400 from bestpricebeds, it arrived today and seems like a very good quality mattress for the price. The real test comes tonight, I'm sure it'll be a huge improvement on the old mattress which was open coil sprung ortho.
Thanks for all the advice!0 -
Did you sleep well then?0

New mattress - very comfortable, although it feels lumpy at the moment as the fillings need to settle. It is firm, but not too firm, my back is supported well. I've not asked hubby how he slept yet, but I'm guessing well as he didn't wake before the alarm for once!
Old pillows - rubbish! I think the old mattress was sagging in the middle which left our heads higher. I've ordered some better pillows0
