solar panel/meter going back help please

Hi,

We got solar panels fitted mid July. We were with NPower so the FiT is with them. We ticked a box saying the meter went backward when we were filling out the paperwork initially.

Our fixed term npower gas and electric contract finished in September so we switched provider for them to m&s who gave us a good deal and quidco etc.

We got our first FiT payment at the weekend. We were wondering as to whether we could switch the FiT thing to m&s so were doing a bit of research online when we came across information that your meter isn't supposed to go backwards. We honestly didn't realise this since we heard no word on the contrary from npower since we registered the panels with them in July. I thought that by ticking it on the form it was just conformation they were working ok.

Who should I contact about the meter- m&s- new energy provider- or npower- original provider and who FiT stuff is with?

Thanks for any help!

hiya, some info here post #1 (section 4):

Don't panic, you haven't done anything wrong since you didn't intend to deceive.

Just let M&S know, quick call, or an e-mail as proof. They may sort it quickly, or do nothing for years!!!!

If you want to be really good you could chase up Npower, but it'll probably cost them more to sort this out, now you've gone, than letting it slide.

    Having fun with the panels?

  • Thank you. I have just phoned m&s and they have arranged to fit a new meter and then do another reading in a month or so.

I will try and have a proper read through all of that thread alter- it looks interesting. I have just found this section of the forum so have lots to learn!

We are enjoying the panels so far, they are just a little sad today to be covered in snow. Hopefully it will melt soon!
