Self Assessment Help Please.

in Cutting tax
We have decided to complete our SA online without an accountant for 2011-12
I have all the paperwork that we need and other information except for a User ID and Password.
Will our accountant that completed them previously have them or do we need to register again ourselves?
Also if we had a rebate because of overpayment for 2010-11 does that mean we didn't have any losses brought forward?
Thanks in advance.

No reliance should be placed on the above.

If you made a payment of tax in 2010/11, any losses you had brought forward would have been used to reduce your liability. Therefore it is unlikely you have any lossess left.
Do you not have a copy of your previous self assessment forms?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Most accountants file using their own software so you will need to obtain your own login details.
The fact that you had a rebate does not mean you will not have losses brought forward. If you call HMRC they should be able to give you the loss brought forward figures from your previous tax return.0 -
Thanks for your quick replies!
I have 2 copies of last years form. One has the losses at £1732 and one with the box blank. It's coming back to me now that the one with the losses of £1732 was used for a rebate.
Thanks for the answer regarding the password good job I didn't realise after 21st Jan!!

Request the password asap as it can take over a week for it to come through. That caught a lot of people out last year!0
