Note.... Many thanks to people that are offering advice to my situation

Then a statment to the people commenting on my spelling.....

I am a designer creating 3D models (I dont think Dali was spell checked on his work) or maybe his clock would be straight?????

Any comments regarding your spelling were given with good intent.

There was no comment about your needing decent spelling and grammar for your product that you see as your work. It was about the business of being self-employed and selling your business as a professional organisation presenting itself via its website and in correspondence.

By the way, Dali could spell. Or at least his novel was proof read by someone who could.
  • They said they was disapointed but didnt argue the fact that they would not be able to pay me, just told me to bring in my notice on monday with my keys. I know that my leaving with no notice will leave them up the creek without a paddle but in todays world, we must put our family first by doing what will work in the long run.

As far as luck goes I have plenty as I never seem to need it :)

If you never seem to need luck, might I suggest that actually this is because you already use a lot of it. Best hope it doesn't run out.

You really do need to ensure that your spelling and grammar are up to scratch for your website and for communications with customers. Mistakes like you have this far demonstrated will make it very difficult for clients (and more importantly potential clients) to take you seriously. You seem to be drastically underestimating the impact this will have. Unfortunately some of the errors we have seen will not be picked up by a spelling and grammar checker on your PC; you will either need a proof-reader, or to bring up your own skills.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.
  • An update. Well the company I was working for did go bust, I walked out at the beginning of the year, the staff that didnt walk didn't get paid. I got a 40% reduction on my benefit for 4 months. I survived! And ended up landing job as an engineering draftsman yay happy days, and in regards to the previous comment about my poor spelling, I am still dyslexic, but hay no one cares as all I do is draw all day lol

Why are you so offended about comments about your spelling? My spelling is not great either, however, in my case, it is because I type too fast, so means that in the professional world, I have to go back and re-read myself (something I don't usually do on forums).

You initially were posting about setting up your own business. Thankfully it would seem that you gave up on that idea and that was probably the right thing to do. Too many people assume that the success of a business (ie. just keeping it alive) is about a particular skills. It isn't. Setting up a company requires business acumen, that is, convincing people that they should buy your products. How would a client have faith in the quality of what you are producing if the quality of your marketing is very poor? It's not about your own abilities, but that of the business, so if you know you are not very good at one thing, you make sure someone who is provides their support.

Some people are not good at spelling, some not good at calculus, some not good at direct sales etc... no need to get defensive when someone points the obvious trying to be helpful.
