The UK needs a threefold increase in the number of new homes to help end the “blight” of poor housing, a report has concluded.
The study by the Future Homes Commission, a body instigated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba), called for 300,000 extra homes to be built every year on brownfield land and sections close to virtually every city, town and village in a "housing revolution".

Does anyone know how the breakdown of housing shortages work out per region?
Because I suspect the vast majority of these houses are needed in the South East and London. Am I correct?0 -
Lets do it then.....Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0

We might get building some more in the next couple of years. The argument that it will finally get us out of recession (and there is evidence of this) is getting larger all the time.
The shortage problem is also starting to hit prime news slots on newsnight etc. It appears it's a matter of time to me....though that time could be a long time coming yet.0 -
Good job there is plenty of space then in the Cotwolds AONB....
get self building!0 -
And RIBA don't have a vested interest?
We do need more homes, the likelihood of such numbers, exceedingly low."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
