  • Shellieboo, as you are currently getting pension credit you are entitled to help with rent and council tax. You shouldn't be having to keep moving. Phone your local council to claim it https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council - or ask AgeUK to help you.

    Yes we do get help but what they give us only just about covers what the rent is when we moved in. Our rent is currently £375 a month and we get full benefit. In April the rent will go up to £435 a month. Means we will have to find £60 a month out of our money.

    Hi Shellie, I'm sure you will get either a higher pension now, or some sort of lump sum, but Age UK are wonderful and they will help. Carrying on from your DLA/AA on the Disability Board, I posted a suggested letter on there for you.

    I think it would really would be worth you sending it, as you have nothing to lose, and an awful lot to gain. Good Luck!

    Ask your council about discretionary housing payments.
