I won....sort of

I was chosen as a winner on the Baby Swap or Shop advent. The prize was a months supply of Little Dish meals for toddlers.
Anyway, today I had 10 vouchers for £2 off each meal, which cost £2.45 at the cheapest in Tesco, Waitrose is more.
Is it really a months supply win if you have to pay a fiver for 10 meals?

  • I agree it is a little misleading to say it's a win when you have to pay for part of it. Helpful though if it is something you would buy anyway. I think for a real win you shouldn't have to end up paying for part of the prize (unless it's travel to get to a prize etc...).

  • actually I really do think that is a bit cheeky of them to give you money off vouchers!!
  • Maybe the recommended retail price is £2 and the supermarkets are selling it for more or maybe it was on offer when they offered the prize but it's still a good prize if you normally buy it or even wanted to try it.

Hmm that is a bit of a misleading prize, not only are you having to fork out towards it but also 10 meals is not a month's supply is it, surely it's 10 days supply?!
Oh well - at least you're getting them very cheaply I suppose!

That's distinctly unimpressive. I would definitely query it with them - something polite, along the lines of how excited you were to get a month's worth of meals as a prize and then how disappointed you were when it turned out to be 10 days of reduced-price meals rather than free ones. Truth in advertising applies to competition prizes too - there's a difference between talking up a prize (eg. by using RRP when the product rarely sells for that much) and saying a month of meals when they mean 10.

I take it the vouchers are one per product? Wondering if you could at least get 4 meals for 5 vouchers without it costing?

Thanks for your replies, I was worried I was being ungrateful but perhaps I should query it. Tesco have them on offer £2.45 each or 2 for £4 so that may be 5 free meals if they accept them.
It's not something I would buy to be honest, I don't have the right aged child for a start and if I did, I'd rather make my own meals. I was hoping to give them to the health visitor to pass on to someone who needed them, I'm glad I didn't tell her before hand.
It was a strange advent, only one entry at the beginning and your name could be picked out any day, so I didn't know what I was entering one day to the next. Really really wanted a pushchair :(

When it's sorted, give the health visitor the vouchers (and not the baby food) ;)
