I presume they wil get less state pension in proportion.
Which could mean Steve Webb's categoric statement and promise of honouring built up entitlements might not apply, which was the point I was making.
It would depend a bit on how much additional state pension the person with 30 years credits had already built up.
I'm waiting for the statement before commencing a full on attack on our beloved pensions minister.I came, I saw, I melted0 -

Fun. I did wonder if the years are going up and it seems that it is going to happen. I guess it taught us not to rely on State Pension at all!
I wonder how many more years it requires by the time I get to State Retirement Age. It is going to be higher than 40 years!
Cheers,

I went to the government gateway site to check my entitlement and contribution record. I have registered for this site and used it before. It used to tell me how many years I had contributed and how much state pension I could expect. Now it just forwards me to a generic, non-personalised page. Is it working for anyone else?0

It comes up with a message saying 'did you really believe all those figures in the previous statement. Mug'
(to be serious yes it is working for me and I was able to get a statement based on the current rules)I came, I saw, I melted0 -
BBC website are now confirming the 35 year requirement. Completely ridiculous to reduce it to 30 and then put it back up to 35
Especially so soon after it was put down to 30.
As of April 2010, I had 36 years. I intend to work until July 2016 ( assuming no early retirement package on offer) so will have 42 years which should be more than enough.
Still not clear what I will get though, having been in a contracted out pension all my working life but also being entitled to some inherited SERPS.0 -
Being in my mid 50's and already having the 30 years necessary for the state pension. Just wondering if the new propossed 35 year qualifying years affect people like me?
The current system is 30 years to get a full basic state pension plus the earnings-related S2P part that continues to increase even after 30 years while you're working.0 -
Another area I am concerned about is the ten year limit of not paying NI and not getting it at all! I am worried about it since it may affect my dad.
Hope to get more information about that tomorrow.

Reduced from 10 years ( I think it was) to 1 year in 2010. And now they are putting it back up to 10 years supposedly. If that's right that is ridiculous also.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
