That said, i've stopped entering most FB comps after all the trouble's recently and i don't do twitter, yet these seem to be where all the comps are at the momentThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
It does seem quiet & i can't remember last year so can't really comment on whether this is quieter than usual - however there are still a lot of 31st Jan enders so was wondering i you've tackled these ?proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I think January was quiet last year too but cannot be 100% I too have cut back on entering FB comps , especially like and share. Seems all we hear about is cheaters, witch hunts/troll hunts, companies who run fake giveaways to increase their fan base or for self-promotion - not a nice community anymore! Same goes for Twitter! In fact I have gone right off comping on facebook and Twitter:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

Yes there are comps but then it is hard to decipher whether they are genuine or not! Often, if a winner is announced on a company page (which is supposed to be against Facebook rules), then 50% of the time, or so it seems at the moment, the winner is either accused of being a cheat or related to the company by the 'herd of trolls' that seem to be rife on Facebook just now.
Also, if a company states that the winner has been drawn and contacted privately through Facebook or via email (so adhereing to Facebook rules!), then the herd of trolls' will start posting accusations eg 'I bet the comp was a fake', 'how do we know you really drew a winner?'
It just seems that there is constant backlash of some sort on Facebook.
I have been accused myself of being a cheat and it is very upsetting, especially as I know I am innocent and have just the one account. Luckily the companies have always defended me and told the trolls that I have not cheated and they have sent out my prize. I don't think the trolls know how much damage it can cause some individuals. I'm not embarassed to admit that I suffer from mental health issues and some of the things people have posted about me really really hurt me badly and left me in a terrible state. Facebook has lost it's positivity in my eyes. When I first joined, I used to have a laugh with my friends on there and I looked forward to logging on so I could chat to them and we'd share comps. Now I tend to only login when I want to enter the odd comp posted on here. I never bother scrolling my newsfeed as it is often just full of back lash and !!!!!ing and I prefer not to read or join in.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I don't do either FB or Twitter comps. I think there should be a separate section just for those comps.
That's just a personal view and I'm sure the majority would disagree with me.
I feel that one day the walls of Facebook will come tumbling down in a big way, harming many of its innocent inhabitants.
Just me being prophetic !!2014 Losses - Front Door Key, Premier League, Luis Suarez0 -

You are right - and the wall is very near to tumbling! This new law that is being talked about - tracking, exposing and taking these internet trolls to court obviously stems from the fact that the bullying is starting to get out of hand!
Sorry to have erred from the original topic posted - a quiet start to the year for compers? - From a personal point of view, it is quieter for me simply because I am giving many of the Facebook like and shares and Twitter comps a miss.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
it does seem quieter but i must admit im enjoying it after the chaos that december and the advents brings lol! last month took huge effort for very little reward so at least i have a bit more time to do other things now, less comps mean less chances to win tho thats the only downside.Fb comps ive cut right back on aswell certainly the "like n share" comps i dont do as much of nowadays i just dont trust them, the app comps im happy to enter tho you expect them to be fine at least. as far as the bullying goes it really is tragic that what should be fun for everyone is turned into something sinister, not even as if its big prizes half the time that the squabbles are over! yeah i may get jealous at someone winning something i really really want but to start abusing them for it is just plain sad! anyway ive said my piece, keep going and ENJOY folks!! :-)Comping Life- wake up in morning, get excited about postie comin, bit more excited as u check emails 1st time, get deflated NO wems!,get more deflated as postie brings junk, enter comps,go to work, wonder if delivery vans brought a surprise!,come home nope no surprises!,check again for wems nope still disappointed!,enter more comps, time for bed,REPEAT!0

I too, tend to keep myself to myself and never join in with bullying. Yes, some of the winners targeted by the troll are cheats, but many are innocent. I don't even read the posts - it is too depressing
Anyway on a more cheery note - I have used my extra time this month to have a MASSIVE Spring Clean around my home - sorted out my wardrobes, drawers, kitchen cupboards etc! And doing that has actually made me feel so much better too!I have also bought some daffodils and Spring baskets to put where my home looks bare without my Christmas decorations!
Oh and I have sorted out my bookmarks on here and started to make a log of my wins (one of my New Year's Resolutions' - so trying to stay positive
