Because to an old Codger like me what the banks have done to award themselves bonuses, like the millions they have awarded themselves, is like paying someone to steal the publics money.

Some say that you have to pay top money to get the best, with todays enquiries into banks some of your good selves are going to have to go back to school and start again.

I just cannot believe that when I was younger I used to get my local Bank manager to give me references for job applications and that was considered a valuable reference. Who gives them a reference for a Bank managers job nowadays?

    Rant over...

Time to move on from bank bashing.

What's required is a debate on what we spend our tax revenues on.

The current welfare bill is unaffordable. That's fact. Has nothing to do with banks.

You mean like an extra levy or super tax on banks? Would that be on top of the that we have already had in place for a few years.

Sorry I have not got a clue as to what you mean.

What I am saying that to a lay person like myself you can only reward by results. Their performance has been appauling in my view.

We spend billions on benefits creating a dependency culture.

When you suggest cutting back these benefits and getting people back into work, the usual reposte is that there are no decent jobs.

To create new quality jobs would take a lot of money pumped into R&D.

Money we don't have because we are spending billions on benefits..

    and around we go. :)

What ever we recovered would be relatively small compared to th esize of the problem.

Very true but at the current rate we are slowly spiraling down the funnel.

A better discussion would be how we can increase our tax revenue volumes.

The current welfare bill is also unaffordable because tax volumes have collapsed.

Tax volumes aren't going to recover anytime soon. Financial services is never going to make the same contribution as it did a few years back.

Thank you ... I understand from your experience the amounts would only be small, but on principle it did not look good to the average person in the street, that is what made me concerned.

After posting this reply I read the comments of my not being able to be reasoned with, I think that it is quite the reverse.
