Thanks. Having googled I think I will use them for storing dried goods in the kitchen.

Wow that's lovely. Milk cartons are a bit too big for where my sockets are but I shall keep this one in mind for when OH finishes his shampoo bottle. It has made me think.

That's really good. I'm afraid I'd make a mess of it, but one day I might have a go.

I used one of my milk cartons to store dried chickpeas in. I cut up the bag and it fit very neatly over the bottle so it shows what's in it, although chick peas are not easily confused with other stuff.

As I collect more cartons I will use them for dried foods. I have a lot of stuff in opened plastic bags and eventually they spill.

  • I have a packet of chopsticks that (individually) get used for all sorts of things, though I use a fork for eating Chinese food! Here are just a few -

    Mini rolling pin for icing
Poking holes in icing/in salt dough buttons/in pie tops
    Staking pot plants
Clearing out the shower hair trap
Using like a bottle brush, wrapped in a piece of cloth
    Unfolding insideout gloves
    Poking cables into little holes
    Making mobiles
    Curling ribbons
Holding down the edge of papers while photographing
    Measuring stick
    Applying glue
    Mixing things
    Drumstick
Lining up beads along the edge, to thread
    Folding material around
    Scoring card along edge
    Pushing buttons at a distance
    Lifting jagged can lids
    Budgie perch!
Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.

I use 2 litre plastic milk bottle with the top and a bit of the side cut off but the handle left on to hold wood preservative, paint etc when I'm using it. Much lighter than the tin.
I use old Marmite jars for my herbs and spices because they exclude the light and the contents stay fragrant for longer.
500ml plastic ice cream tubs are used for storing homemade yogurt.
Cardboard ones are used for making bird 'cake'
5 litre mineral water containers make good cloches in the garden with the bottom cut out. You can remove the top on hot days to let air in. (I have a filter jug so I have to scavenge these)

    Wow some many great tips!

I have just received some free tomato seeds and was looking for a way to plant them :j

I have used the cartons my phone and tablet came in as small storage boxes, they work great in my bedroom as they are black and my bedroom is black & white.

I also use lids and small boxes for storage inside draws, great for keeping them organised!

Any nice bath bottle I get for Christmas / Birthdays I reuse with cheaper stuff inside, I got Soap & Glory stuff this year and their pots are great for storage!

I have just brought in from the shed an old small folding table, brought some years ago for camping, used as a painting stand when renovating the house, then was used last year in the garden, now cleaned up with a blanket on, the cat's bed sits on it, he doesn't like sleeping in his bed when it's on the floor, so this solved the issue!

I buy most of my clothes from the charity shops (not sure if that counts!) and I have only brought mini toiletries once, I made sure the lids came off them all, then I refill them for each trip, also I have a small bottle for suncream, good for days out, or keeping my bag in the summer (you never know!) as I have very fair skin.

I bring home waste paper from work to use in the open fire.

Thanks for all the fab ideas, I am going on a hunt to find things to reuse!

    :D

I'm very annoyed as OH recycled a coffee jar I had washed up to keep for some extra storage in my messy kitchen. He has been told off. So hopefully that won't happen again.

Seakay, would you mind sharing how you make "bird cakes"?

    Thanks
