Am also on the lookout for an electric blanket. I actually have some Amazon vouchers (which basicly means Amazon is pretty much my only option). I just wondered if you'd tried this and if its reliable, how easy it is to look after and so on.

Or if anyone else has any suggestions?

Haven't used it but it has 125 5 star reviews.

Posted it because if they build a combined unit it may be possible to use a blanket with a topper, however, if having to buy an extra item, maybe having one designed to do both is a better option.

Seems blankets on their own are a lot cheaper

When I bought my mattress topper I replaced my electric underblanket with a Dreamland over-blanket - bliss! The two together make it very, very difficult to prise myself out of bed in the morning.

    Sounds like a good deal...
    Anyone got one of these?

    Single £16
    Double £18
    King £20
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/silentnight-comfort-control-electric-blanket-king/346-6117.prd?skuId=346-6117&fromRV=true

The Silentnight Comfort control electric blanket has 3 heat settings and warms up in minutes for a snug night's sleep. The ivory coloured king size heated under blanket is suitable for all night use, includes an overnight protection mechanism and is fully BEAB approved. Machine washable and suitable to tumble dry, it comes with a 3 year manufacturers guarantee so no longer will you have to climb into a cold bed.

I googled and apparently has good ratings via Littlewoods and Very (though more expensive as everything is on there!) appears the downsides are that it fits badly and isn't very comfortable, others have commented on the size being smaller when compared to the measurements stated and also that it didn't warm things up enough, Juries out imo.

Hmmm, I'd rather hear here from anyone who does own one.

Just picked one up, will let you know tomorrow as it looks frostie tonite! :D
  • Hi,
I bought one of these early last year in the sale at Tesco (around the time we had a mini heatwave for a week). I have found it to be great. I usually switch it on about 15 mins before I go to bed and it is perfect. If this is the same one it has several settings and you can turn it on whilst you are in bed for a short time. I bought a king size for a double bed and it fits perfectly without going over the sides of the bed and does not seem to move.
    Hope this helps.

Great! Just a few questions (if I can pick your brains;) )

Do you find it "uncomfortable"? Apparently the dial is in a difficult place.

Did you find the price you paid was very different to what you see them priced as now? (ie, is it worth the wait when it comes to saving money to wait until the summer).

Is it easy to wash/keep clean?

    Hi
An update (this is my first electric blanket so bear with :) )
In Tesco there are 2 packs - blue and orange, both with the same name, and details on the outside.
On opening the orange one (king size £20), the instructions have a photo of the blue pack inside, so I think they could be just repackaging .
On website the orange ones say will be £35, so it looks like time-limited offer.
Size-wise - king size almost goes up to the edges of the bed, a bit fiddly with the ties but easy to do.
Controls - simple 1 2 3 - 3 is nice and toasty but 1 doesnt really do much I felt.
The control on hte blanket is up near the pillow, so may be a hard spot under the sheet - not sure if Ive put this in the right place - is this normal?!
