does the key work if you use your finger instead

what is the make of keyboard, presumably desktop keyboard?

    wired or wireless

    have you broken the plastic

does it have a metal hinge

No it doesn't work when pressed down with finger so think its knackered anyway. Have ordered new one off eBay for £24.99 thanks though
  • For future reference, these last longer. Keyboards that incorporate them are however much more expensive.

I can empaphise (SP) with the OP, as a well known keyboard, is like a friend, I'm using a black cheap k/b, with half they letters rubbed off, useless! But I would love an Olivetti M10 keyboard from the times of 8086 fame, now THAT was a keyboard!

Now I don't know the design of your keyboard, or why backspace would need a bar, but it might be an idea to dismantle the keyboard, if practicle, to aid repair.

The pad (electrical contact), can become detached, so the key doesn't sit flat. Depending on the age of the keyboard; This is easily repaired. More modern keyboards however have rubber pads, and when you open them up, the pads go awol.

To reattach it, depending on age, take the lid off, use a couple of thick knitting needles to move the bar into position.
  • Hi gave it a clean, but still not working. I ordered a new one and received it 2 days later. So easy to change over myself too. Now have a nice shiny new keyboard
